Signs Your Gelco Damper Repair Is Failing

• The handle turns but the plate doesn’t move. The linkage pin has corroded or the cotter pin has sheared off. This is the most common Gelco failure we see in Kirkland, the cast linkage sits in a creosote-rich environment and seizes over 10-15 years.
• You feel cold air dropping down the flue even when the damper is closed. The plate has warped or the frame has cracked, creating a gap that lets conditioned air escape. In Kirkland’s older homes near Market Street, this can add $150-$300 to annual heating bills.
