DuraFlex Flue Liner Replacement Nationwide

Every visit starts with

Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed

Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

DuraFlex Flue Liner Replacement: The Kirkland Owner’s Guide

We stock and install DuraFlex-compatible flue liner replacement in Kirkland, with typical installed pricing from $2,800 to $4,600 depending on chimney height and diameter. Most DuraFlex liner jobs are completed in a single day once the written scope is approved. Most Kirkland homeowners discover the problem during a routine sweep when our camera scope shows cracked, separated, or corroded stainless segments that have been venting combustion gases into the masonry chase.

Which DuraFlex Models This Applies To

DuraFlex produces several distinct product lines, and matching the right replacement liner to your existing system matters for both safety and warranty coverage. The DuraFlex SW (smooth wall) and DuraFlex HT (high temperature) series are the two we encounter most often in Kirkland homes built between 1985 and 2010, particularly in the neighborhoods around Juanita Beach and the Bridle Trails area where factory-built fireplaces with metal chimneys were common in that era.

Identifying your series starts with the data tag, usually found on the exterior chimney chase near the cleanout door or inside the firebox on a metal plate. The tag lists the liner diameter, wall thickness, and UL listing number. If the tag is missing or illegible, we measure the inner flue diameter with a caliper and check the crown construction, DuraFlex HT liners were spec’d for higher-BTU appliances and have a slightly heavier gauge. We source replacement materials through our Haven buying network from DuraFlex, Olympia Chimney, and Famco, and we’ll tell you plainly whether OEM or a quality aftermarket equivalent makes sense for your specific installation. In some cases, the OEM part is worth the wait; in others, an Olympia Chimney or Famco equivalent carries the same 316Ti stainless specification at a lower parts cost.

Signs Your DuraFlex Flue Liner Replacement Is Failing

Signs Your DuraFlex Flue Liner Replacement Is Failing
  • White or tan powder on the smoke chamber walls. This is efflorescence from moisture and acidic condensation migrating through cracks in the liner. In Kirkland’s wet winters, we see this frequently in homes where the original DuraFlex liner was installed without a proper rain cap or where the crown has cracked, letting water pool at the flue collar.
  • Bits of metal or rust flakes in the firebox or cleanout. DuraFlex liners are 316Ti stainless, but the connector fittings and termination collars are often lower-grade metal that corrodes first. Those flakes mean the system is losing structural integrity at the joints.
  • Smoke odor in upstairs rooms when the fireplace is not in use. A separated liner joint or corrosion hole allows downdrafts to push chimney air into wall cavities. We traced this exact pattern last winter in a home near Peter Kirk Park where a 6-inch DuraFlex SW liner had separated at the second-story offset.
  • The fireplace “smokes back” into the room on startup. Liner collapse or heavy creosote buildup reduces the flue diameter below what the appliance needs to draft properly. With gas inserts, this can also indicate a liner that was never properly sized for the new appliance.
  • Visible gaps or waviness in the liner when you shine a flashlight up the flue. DuraFlex liners are flexible by design, but they should hold a smooth, continuous path. Sagging or accordion-like compression means the support bands have failed or the liner was never properly tensioned during original installation.

DuraFlex liner replacement, single-story chimney (up to 20 ft) $2,800 - $3,400
DuraFlex liner replacement, two-story chimney (20-35 ft) $3,400 - $4,200
DuraFlex liner replacement with chimney chase repair or crown rebuild $4,200 - $5,800+
NFPA 211 Level 2 camera inspection with written report Included
Documented photo record, written warranty Included

What drives the range: chimney height, liner diameter (5.5-inch, 6-inch, and 8-inch are common for DuraFlex), number of offsets or bends, and whether the existing liner can be extracted intact or must be demolished in place. Every quote we deliver in Kirkland is line-itemed: parts, labor, disposal, and any chase or crown work needed to protect the new liner. Clause 1 of the Haven Standard requires that written price before anyone starts, no exceptions. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the installation, and the liner itself carries the manufacturer’s warranty, typically lifetime for 316Ti stainless when installed to spec.

DIY or Call Us?

There’s a short, honest list of what a Kirkland homeowner can safely check: verify the data tag model, confirm the flue diameter with a tape measure, and look for obvious debris or animal nesting at the termination. That’s it.

Everything else belongs to a technician with the right equipment. Extracting a failed DuraFlex liner requires controlled descent from the roof, working around a live or recently used chimney that may still contain hot ash and creosote. The replacement liner must be measured, cut, and tensioned to manufacturer spec, then connected to an appliance collar that is rated for the specific BTU output. A misaligned joint or undersized liner creates a carbon monoxide pathway into the home. Corrine Halstead and our crew have replaced DuraFlex liners throughout Kirkland, including several where a homeowner’s self-install attempt left the liner unsupported and sagging at the offset. The camera doesn’t lie, and neither does the invoice. If you suspect your liner is failing, call (425) 642-3485. We’ll scope it, show you the footage, and deliver a written price before any work starts.
