Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed
Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
Meet the Kirkland Team Behind Level Two Chimney Kirkland
Our crew lives in the same zip codes we sweep. We’ve got kids in Lake Washington schools, dogs that hate the Fourth of July fireworks over Juanita Bay, and opinions about the best pho on 85th. What unites us is simple: we show up in uniform, we name the price before we touch a tool, and we document everything. Haven Standard Clause 1 says the written price comes first. Clause 4 says the photo record follows. We’ve been doing both since 2009.
Our People
Corrine Halstead, Owner
I started Level Two Chimney Co. in 2009 after watching too many homeowners get a verbal “ballpark” that somehow doubled once the truck was in the driveway. That doesn’t happen here. I still pull permits in Kirkland and Bellevue, still read the WA State Building Code amendments every January, and still answer the phone myself some mornings when Rhiannon’s got three lines ringing. I keep a file of every chimney we’ve photographed since day one - 38,000 and counting. My least favorite call? The one where someone skipped their sweep for six years and we find the flue liner cracked from thermal shock. My favorite? Telling someone their “emergency” is actually a $180 sweep and they’re fine for another season. Dry observation: if you store your firewood against the house in Finn Hill, you’re feeding carpenter ants, not your fireplace.
Marcus T., Lead Technician
Marcus has been climbing roofs in King County for fourteen years, the last eight with us. He’s NFPA 211 certified for Level 1 and Level 2 inspections, which means he can run the camera scan up your flue and tell you whether that shadow is a missing mortar joint or just a water stain from the 2006 storm season. His specialty is masonry evaluation - he’ll tap the crown with a hammer and know by the ring if it’s hollow underneath. Marcus lives in Totem Lake with two teenagers who refuse to help him stack his own woodpile. He drives a green F-250 with 287,000 miles and knows every loading zone between here and the Snoqualmie Pass.
Delia R., Senior Installer
Delia handles our liner pulls and rebuilds, the jobs where we’re dropping stainless steel or casting a new smoke chamber with HeatShield cerfractory foam. She trained under a third-generation mason in Spokane before moving west for the marine climate - less freeze-thaw damage, more moss. Delia’s particular about cricket flashing, the peaked diversion behind chimneys on sloped roofs that keeps Kirkland’s forty inches of annual rain from pooling. She’s installed DuraFlex liners from Bridle Trails to Houghton and can eyeball a chimney height for draft adequacy within six inches. Off duty, she restores vintage motorcycles and complains that no one in this town knows how to properly season alder.
Rhiannon K., Service Coordinator
Rhiannon answers the phones, schedules the routes, and makes sure your written estimate hits your inbox before Marcus or Delia backs out of the driveway. She’s the one who explains why your sweep in Kirkland costs what it costs, why we don’t do “verbal ballparks,” and why Clause 1 of the Haven Standard exists in the first place. She’s been with us since 2017 and has heard every variation of “but the other guy said” - her response is always the same: bring us the written estimate, we’ll give you a free second opinion. Rhiannon grew up in Juanita, still kayaks Lake Washington in March, and keeps a whiteboard of every technician’s kid’s birthday so she can route them home early.
Jesse P., Apprentice Technician
Jesse joined us in 2023 after four years in residential HVAC. He’s working through his CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep credential, currently shadowing Marcus on inspections and handling the bulk of our standard sweeps and cap installations. Jesse’s got good hands on a roof - low center of gravity, doesn’t rush the harness clip - and he’s learning to read creosote classes by texture: flaky Class I, tar-like Class II, the glazed Class III that chips like glass and means you’ve been burning wet wood in a cold flue. He lives in a rental in Kingsgate with a roommate who insists on using Duraflame logs. Jesse hasn’t fixed that yet. He will.
One Standard, Every Job

Level Two Chimney Kirkland operates independently under the Haven Standard, the same framework that governs our sister companies across Washington. What that means on your driveway: a background-checked, uniformed technician with a named license number, a text when they’re en route, and a written scope, written price, and written warranty before work begins. Every visit includes an NFPA 211 Level 2 camera inspection and a documented photo record - Clause 4, non-negotiable since 2009. Materials come through Haven’s buying network from DuraFlex, HeatShield, Gelco, Olympia Chimney, Famco, and Copperfield, which keeps our prices honest and our specs consistent. The 365-Day Done Right Promise applies whether we’re sweeping a flue in Moss Bay or rebuilding a crown in Rose Hill. If it’s not done right, we make it right. No voicemail trees, no post-work sticker shock, no exceptions.
